AI search readiness means your website can be found, understood, and correctly cited by AI systems like ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI-powered search — not just ranked by traditional Google algorithms. That’s the shift we walked through live in the first Growth Impulse session, using five free tools instead of slides.

What we looked at

Google’s AI Overviews now sit above traditional results, and citation share inside them is a checkable metric, not a vague goal. We showed a live example where a WITTIGONIA tool is cited in the AI Overview for a recruitment marketing search term — visible directly in the search results during the session.

PageSpeed Insights now includes an agentic browsing audit. It checks whether your accessibility tree is well formed and whether your layout is stable (low cumulative layout shift) — both of which determine how easily an AI agent can navigate your page, not just how fast it loads.

Structured data is the mechanism AI systems use to build a knowledge graph of who you are, what you offer, and where you’re based. Google’s Rich Results testing tool shows exactly what a search engine — and by extension, an AI system — currently understands about your site. Better structured data produces a more accurate knowledge graph over time.

Bing Webmaster Tools has a new AI Performance report, currently in beta, showing which pages get cited in AI-driven results. Google Search Console is expected to add an equivalent report.

Google Search Console remains the baseline for monitoring what’s actually working, AI search included.

The one thing to do this week

Run your homepage through PageSpeed Insights and check the agentic browsing audit. If you don’t have an llms.txt file yet, that’s roughly an hour of work — most SEO plugins can generate one for you. Two checks, one afternoon, and you know exactly where you stand.
